Standing Stones

So many of them all in a row
As far as my eyes could see
There before me were fields
After fields of them to be seen
All with their own flag to fly
Showing their stars and stripes
With no end in sight
Looking left or to the right
Nothing but these
Standing Stones
In honor of all our fallen
To this very day of our 4th of July
Giving thanks back to those
Who aren’t here to hear us say it
Nor hear our goodbyes
Never truly knowing how much
We are thankful for what was given
So we all could live free this day
Thou many out there think it is all about
The hotdogs and fireworks at night
Way to many anymore can’t remember
What was given for us all on this day
Along with what is still being given
Each and everyday for
Our freedom of life
So please won’t you just take
A moment out of your time
Giving thanks for all
Who given their lives
